Ukraine, a developing story | OSCE



On 21 March 2014, all 57 participating States of the OSCE have taken a
consensus decision to put in place for a 100-strong monitoring mission
to be deployed within 24 hours.


The Mission will operate gather information and report on the
security situation; establish facts in response to incidents; establish
contacts and facilitate dialogue on the ground to reduce tension and
promote normalisation of the situation.


It will consist of 100 civilian monitors working in teams; the number
can be expanded up to 500 people. Monitors will initially be deployed
to Kharkiv, Kherson, Odessa, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Donetsk,
Dnepropetrovsk, Chernivtsi, Luhansk. The head office will be in Kyiv.
Any change in deployment shall be subject to a decision of the Permanent
Council.
